Join the 31 Days to Reset Your Life Challenge: November 2011 Edition

This is the announcement post for the November 2011 edition of the 31 Days to Reset Your Life Challenge. Learn more and sign up for the program here.

Note: Please read everything on this page if you want to join us for November. If you already completed last month’s challenge, no need to do this one, as the exercises are identical month by month.

For November 2011, I am putting out the invitation here on the blog for those who want to benefit from my virtual life coaching program, 31 Days to Reset Your Life. Each day of the program requires you to complete an exercise that will help you get back on track in ways that will allow you to become a better, happier, healthier and more successful person in the future.

You’ll get exercises to help you:

  • Get out of an unsatisfying rut
  • Rediscover who you truly are
  • Develop a personal mission statement
  • Create a map for your ideal life
  • Envision and pursue your passion and purpose
  • Get clear about your goals for the future
  • Eliminate behaviors that are holding you back from being happy
  • Experiment with new strategies for living a healthy life
  • Build new relationships
  • Cultivate the entrepreneurial spirit within
  • …and much more!

Who is this challenge for?

Anyone who wants to manifest a change in their life, design a more fulfilling existence, make room for new possibilities or simply gain more clarity about their path to happiness and success. This challenge will especially be of benefit to you if you’ve felt stuck or in a rut during the last year.

How to sign up:

Each participant who signs up for 31 Days to Reset Your Life will commit to doing each of the daily exercises.

Step 1:

You will need to SIGN UP HERE so you can be notified of each of the daily assignments. This is the MOST IMPORTANT STEP, otherwise you will NOT receive any of my challenge blog posts in your inbox. Once you enter and confirm your email address, you will automatically receive a daily email (every day for 31 days, starting immediately- if you want to start on November 1 exactly, wait until then to sign up!) containing an exercise or assignment designed to provoke reflection and planning. Each email will also contain a link back to my blog where you can comment and connect with other 31 Day Reset participants. This way, you get a daily reminder to complete the exercise and share your learnings with the group!

Step 2:

One of the best things about participating in a challenge is the accountability and support, so in addition to signing up, please add your name, blog link, and Twitter handle (if you have one) in the comments below so that we can keep tabs on your progress throughout the month. As soon as you sign up, you will receive your first assignment and you can get started on right away, whenever you choose to begin!

How to participate:

As you complete each of the daily exercise, blog about the results (if some of the exercises don’t really apply to you, no worries). Note: If you decide to blog along, tag your posts with the tag “31dayreset” to make them easier to share with us.

If you don’t want to write about the challenge on your blog, you can still participate in a few other ways:

  • Follow along with the daily exercises and let us know how you apply them in the comments of each of the posts here on Happy Black Woman
  • Comment on the blog posts written by the other challenge participants – be sure to leave your own insights, suggestions and tips on the topics covered and share with us what you’re learning
  • Post your updates and learnings on Twitter using the hashtag #31dayreset (and follow me @happyblackwoman)
  • Join the Happy Black Woman Facebook community where you can post your insights and comment within the Facebook platform

P.S. Don’t forget to SIGN UP HERE so you can be notified of each of the daily assignments. Again, this is the most important step, otherwise you will NOT receive any of my challenge blog posts in your inbox and you will have to manage this process on your own.

P.P.S. You may also wish to join The Happy Black Woman Facebook Community so you can get even more encouragement throughout the month! If you’re on Twitter, follow me @happyblackwoman to get updates there, too.

  1. Hello everyone I’m joining late but I’m happy to be here..

Notebook-small, hardcover and bright red… the color makes me smile

Mantra- My journey is mine and mine alone. It should not be compared and only I can define it. I want to define it through love, forgiveness, acceptance, appreciation and positivity.

Theme Song- Imagine Me, Kirk Franklin

  2. I know that it’s the middle of the month, but as of today, I’ve officially been 16 for one month… So I figured that today is as good a day as any to begin this journey. :)

Reset Notebook – I picked a sturdy, thick sketchbook that I bought on my 16th birthday. It’s blank, empty, and quite hopeful looking. :)

Personal Mantra – “I have survived. I am here. Confused, screwed up, but here. So, how can I find my way? Is there a chain saw of the soul, an ax I can take to my memories or fears?” – Melinda Sordino, “Speak” by Laurie Halse Anderson

Speak is my favorite book, and this quote by the main character (Melinda) really struck a chord in me. It really sums up how I feel. My heart is somewhat of a tangled, gnarled mess, but at least I’m alive.

Theme Song: Never Too Late by Three Days Grace

Never Too Late has always been one of my favorite songs. I cried when I heard it for the first time. It always makes me feel like there’s hope for things to get better.

  3. I’m signing up late. I found this blog because I was searching for the 21 Day Adventure Cleanse. Over the last few days, I’ve listened to EVERY SINGLE SONG you all posted and feel completely inspired by them. I actually made the decision to finally forgive my mom and other people who have hurt me. So, now I’m going to try the re-set challenge.

Mantra: I COMPLETELY forgive myself and others
Notebook: I need to buy one today!
Song: Well, the song that fits this year is The Tallest Building in Hell: http://authenticthreads.org/blog/2011/10/15/theme-song/ but I’ll choose a different theme song for my reset.

… After thinking about all these great songs, I’ve decided to make a morning mixtape of inspiring songs. You can check it out on my website.

One song I know will be included is Smile by Kirk Franklin. It’s so uplifting. http://youtu.be/Z8SPwT3nQZ8

I am about 7 days late, but ready to do this! :-) It took me almost 45mins to pick out a new journal, I am so picky about those things. But I finally found a small hard bound book. It is easy to fit in my purse, purple because that is my favorite
color. I decided not to get a flimsy book because I feel that is how I have been with my life the last few years…Flimsy. So the hard bound to me is not easy to bend or break. Which is where I hope to be.

Mantra: “Tribulation produces perserverance, Perserverance builds character, Character builds hope” I took that from Heavy D’s twitter post.

Theme Song: I still have to choose between two. “Bravo” by Ledisi and “I Didn’t Know my Own Strength” by Whitney Houston. I think I am going to stick with Bravo though.

  5. Name: Ashley
    Twitter: ms_cocoabrown
Notebook: wirebound foam/cardstock cover with a white background and multicolored stems that reminds me of tall grass in the wind

    Mantra:

Do not live in the past for the past has taken care of itself. Live happily in the present and celebrate the future as God has blessed you to experience all three. God has the power to turn your obstacles into opportunities. Through Him all things are possible if you only believe.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

Theme Song: Strength Courage and Wisdom by India Arie

  6. Day 2 exercises done. Powerful! I clearly have a lot of room for change/growth and I am eagerly looking forward to this guided journey. Thank you!

  7. Got my reset notebook the last time I started back in June. And in August smh… It’s a dark pink Moleskine that I can pack in my wallet which insures that it follows me wherever I go :)

    Personal Mantra
“One thing is certain: That is that the power of belief, the power of thought, will MOVE reality in the direction of what we believe and conceive of it. If you really believe you can do something, you can. THAT is a fact.” Daisaku Ikeda

    Theme Song
    “Higher” by Ledisi:

Light that reflects in the mirror
Showing the essence of who I am
    Made from pure perfection
I’m connected to the one, therefore I am…

You gotta let go of your insecurity
Explore the passion in your possibilities
You will find love and no love can be higher than this
What can be higher than this?…

3rd time’s the charm. Crossing my fingers for perseverance.

    Twitter: KristinaPHR
Notebook: Hot Pink – Markings by C.R Gibson (picked up from Target today)
Mantra: I can do ALL things and I know no limits.
Favorite quote: “My will shall shape my future. Whether I fail or succeed shall be no man’s doing but my own. I am the force; I can clear any obstacle before me or I can be lost in the maze.” -Elaine Maxwell
Theme song: Thank You by Mary Mary
