This post is Day 1 of the 2012 edition of the 31 Days to Reset Your Life Challenge. Learn more and sign up here.
Today, we begin. For the next 31 days, you will be working to develop your inner self and create new possibilities for your life. Each day of the program will require you to complete an exercise that will help you get back on track to becoming the happy, healthy, successful person you were meant to be.
To get the most out of this challenge, I suggest you set aside time each day to read the #31DayReset posts, complete the assignments and share your results on your blog or here in the comments. Simply being a passive lurker will not yield quite as powerful a return as being active with your fellow participants! I look forward to your growth this month – just as much as my own.
The following three-part exercise will help to prepare you fully for the month ahead.
Estimated Time to Complete: 30-45 minutes
Choose Your Reset Notebook
To participate fully in the exercises for the month, you will need a dedicated, blank notebook for the exercises. You will be using it everyday to record your responses, insights and “aha moments” throughout the challenge. It can be a notebook you already have but haven’t used yet or it can be a brand new notebook that you buy specifically for this challenge. If you have a blog, you can use your online space to keep track of the exercises, but due to the nature of the challenge, you may not want to share EVERY little detail of what comes to your mind during this self-discovery process. So, I recommend that everyone designate a physical notebook to go along with your online tools.
(My Reset Notebook is a little red Moleskine that I absolutely love. It looks sophisticated and “official,” like it holds important words and plans. It’s also convenient - small enough to fit in my purse to whip out whenever I get inspired to write, yet sturdy enough to last me a long time without the pages falling out.)
Choose a Personal Mantra
A mantra is a positive phrase or affirmative statement that you say to yourself for the purpose of motivation or encouragement. This could be your favorite quote, proverb, spiritual truth or religious saying. (If you don’t know where to look for inspiring quotes, here is a listing of 67 inspiring quotes by black women. Finally, here is a list of 60 inspiring mantras from previous Reset participants.) For this exercise, you’ll want to choose one that represents what you hope to become or believe by the end of this challenge. Then, write it on the first page of your Reset Notebook as a blessing on everything that will be written and accomplished this month.
(My personal mantra for 2012 is: “Do everything in love.”)
Choose a Theme Song
Choose a theme song for the coming month. Imagine what song you would want following you around during your daily journey to reset your life. It should be a song that brings about some kind of motivation or inspiration for you. Play this song every morning (or evening) as you begin your day or in the background as you reflect on and complete each assignment.
(My theme song is “Closer” by Goapele. I play it most mornings to start my day off on a positive note. It’s one of my favorite songs ever and continues to affirm me in my journey to pursue lifelong happiness and success!)
Take Action and Reflect: When you’ve completed this three-part exercise, please share your personal mantra and theme song with us below in the comments! Also, be sure to tell us what kind of notebook you chose for the challenge and why. If you blogged about today’s assignment, please post the link in the comments so we can read it!

hi :]
my reset notebook – resetcristine.tumblr.com {i can update on my phone, computer, by e-mail, etc. convenient & accessible}
my personal mantra – “i have learned over the years that when one’s mind is made up, this diminishes fear; knowing what must be done does away with fear.” – rosa parks {i have said time and time again, fear is my problem. i let it come between me and my goals; i let it talk me out of doing what i want, what i need, what i can; no more. i will not be afraid any more.}
my theme song -yolanda adams – still i rise {heavy the road, the cross i bear. lonely the road, i try, i dare. shaken, but here i stand. weary, still i press on. long are the nights, the tears i cry. dark are the days, no sun in the sky. yet still i rise. never to give up, never to give in against all odds. yet still i rise. high above the clouds. at times i feel low, yet still i rise. … no matter how side tracked, lost, set back i get in trying to reach my goals, frustrated i get with myself, i know that i can and i will rise above it all!}
Read my latest blog post…thirty-one day reset.
Started my 1st day of the Reset and enjoyed the 3-part task. I picked up a small spiral notebook with a turquoise cover to write my progress down because my mom gave it to me and my favorite colors are island looking.
My Mantra for 2012 is: “The Road goes on forever… So Live Life, Laugh as much as possible, and Love Everyone… Especially Yourself.”
My Theme Song is: “Dreams” By the Allman Brothers Band. I chose this song because I want to live out my dreams and hearing this song I always get a chill and feel a little closer to God every time. Here is a link to see it
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBo_POKv21w&feature=colike
I’m starting a little late having stumbled upon this blog last night. But they say never late than never!
My mantra: Live in the moment. My mind is always racing and I find that it stresses me out because I am always thinking of the the past, the future, and my to do list. I want to start being present in the moment so that I can enjoy things around me and start to keep my mind clear.
My song: You Gotta Be by Des’ree. I’ve always loved this song for its simple lyrics but powerful message.
My notebook: Gray with teal and yellow flowers (yellow and teal are two of my favorite colors).
Greetings All,
I know I am a little late to the party but I am finally setting aside the time for myself that I am entitled to.
My notebook for the next 31 days is purple with Japanese blossoms that my Aunt brought back for me when she was on duty in Japan. My family is one of my biggest supporters of my writing and many of the notebooks I have filled over the years have been gifts from them.
My mantra for 2012 is an Audre Lorde quote: “I am deliberate and afraid of nothing.” This quote means so many different things to me but it sums up perfectly every aspect of my life as I approach my 25th year.
My theme song is: “You Gotta Be” by Des’ree. I first heard this song performed live at the United Nations ‘Bring your daughter to work day’ and it was so inspiring to me and still is.
I am looking forward to this awesome journey with all of you and am ready for the growth.
Peace & Blessings,
LJ

hi rosetta … i started in april with you all and dipped off in the 1st third of the month, so i’d like to “tag on to” may 2012. aside from not daily keeping up as well as i had intended, april also brought about a family matter – my mother is beginning her recovery at home (thank God) from a quadruple bypass, a couple of stents, and a very minor stroke. she is happy to be with family and in a healing space. so i hope this is fine to do – jump back on the 31day reset and have wonderful self-reflection! for day 1 –
MY NOTEBOOK: i choose a brown and beige “RevolveR” notebook – http://www.revolverboundbooks.com/
MY MANTRA: “In querencia, be the catalyst who serves.”
MY THEME SONG: “Live Your Life” by Yuna, with the lyrics and a video on my blog – http://shirlnutkin.blogspot.com/2012/04/fbreak-yuna.html
(my initial comment for day 1, april: http://happyblackwoman.com/31dayreset-day-1-start-here/#comment-128241 )
I chose a long legal pad for my writing because it reminds me of what we had to do to learn the chemical symbols during Chemistry class. Also, this pad gives me more space for writing. My mantra is: Love and patience gets me there. I am and always have been a loving person. I know God is love and I focus on my spiritual self more now than in previous years.
My theme song is “God has Spoken”. He made a seamless plan eons ago that works when we work it. What we need is great love to accomplish whatever we set our minds to doing.
Mantra: “It’s time for you to move, realizing that the thing you are seeking, is also seeking you.” -Iyanla Vanzant
Theme Song: “Dream On,” by Aerosmith.
Notebook: A red spiral notebook with “Keep Calm and Carry On” printed on the cover.
Welcome, Megan
“learning to love more everyday” – me
I’ve chosen my iPad notes as my reflection book. This will help me gather my thoughts in one place and my tears in another.
My theme song is Beethoven’s symphony number 5. It reminds me so much of a much happier time in life in my childhood when things were simpler and the pleasure of music was everything to me.
I need this today.
1 Day Reflection
Mantra: You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it. ~Maya Angelo
Theme Song: Mary Mary “Survive”
Notebook -iPad secret diary app because it was pink, glittery, free, and had a password entry feature!
Thank you for providing information about he secret diary; I was struggling to get started with a journal.

My website is not finished, but you can take a sneek peak and place orders for my spices and e-recipebook.
I am so Excited to join the Happy Black Woman Reset!! I one frind who is doing it with me, but to make sure that I am fully apart of the experience and holding myself accountable for doing the work, I am joining the community and posting my daily exercises. I am currently on Day 9, but I wanted to paot what I have done from Day 1 to 9!
Day 1:
So I have included the exercise for Day 1 of the reset. You will find them below.
I have a notebook: Red with African/Indian themed colors. Given to me by a nice little white lady that I work with at ED.
A Mantra: In All Things, I want to See, Feel, Speak, Know, and Be: LOVE, PEACE, KINDNESS, & BLESSINGS.
A Song: We Found Love by Rihanna, song just makes me so happy and hopeful for Love. One day.
Thank You for taking this journey with me. I need the support. This time I am ready.
I am using a beige journal that I bought some time ago but had only populated a couple of pages. My mantra “Know that God has plans for me.” comes from Jeremiah 29:11-14. For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and will bring you back from captivity.
I need to be “brought back” in a big way.
My theme song is “Go Get It” by Mary, Mary.
catching up and will put my days’ assignments on my blog. (i am finding that as i am completing my assignments during this 31 days reset, i am drawing on and building upon my other/past reflections – many which are on my blog._ for now – day 1 …
MY NOTEBOOK: i choose a brown and beige “RevolveR” notebook – http://www.revolverboundbooks.com/ (i also have a red moleskine, which i carry around regularly.) i want to have my 31 days reset in a dedicated journal. and the revolver notebook is something new to me. giving it a try.
MY MANTRA: “In querencia, be the catalyst who serves.” here on my blog post i share what querencia means – http://shirlnutkin.blogspot.com/2011/05/querencia-greenleafcenter.html .
MY THEME SONG: “Live Your Life” by Yuna, with the lyrics and a video on my blog – http://shirlnutkin.blogspot.com/2012/04/fbreak-yuna.html
My mantra: for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
My theme song: A Beautiful Day by India.Arie
I’m getting my book today!
O my mantra is from 2 tim. 1:7
This maybe a repost. I apologize if it is.
My reset journal is a journal that I bought a little over a year ago. It has butterflies on the cover and back. I have chosen this journal to use because it has inspirational quotes in it. On the front page i wrote “butterflies represent transformation. They begin as a fluffy, wooly, fat (phat) worm, that turns into a colorful, delicate, beautiful, equal, different bundle of life that GOD created. Uniquely designed. I love butterflies, beautiful butterfly (BB) is what I am and what I strive to be in GODS eyes”!
My mantra is simply Live Love Laugh, i Live for the moment, Love because GOD loves me and laugh because there is so much evil in the world.
My theme song is Think of You by Ledisi, the wind, sun, moon, trees and flowers are everywhere I look, which reminds me of HIM!
So, I’m a little late with day one (I had a busy day yesterday and today). But feel free to check out my tumblr @ lifeidiot.tumblr.com.
Read my latest blog post…31 Days to Reset Your Life: Day 1
This is my first time doing this and I am really excited. My mantra is: With God 1st I will achieve. I haven’t really picked a notebook, but I have a real sturdy note pad that I keep in my purse, that I write all my notes on. I have several songs that I love that gets my day going or helps me relax and reflect. One is: “I Smile” by Kirk Franklin; “Open My Heart” by Yolanda Adams; “September” by Earth, Wind, and Fire; “Reasons” by Earth, Wind, and Fire; and last but not least: “Man in the Mirror” by Michael Jackson, Even though this song still brings me to tears, and I am only 26.
So…i didnt think that this was going to be something easy for me….because i very rarely look into myself for retrospection or evaluation. (only when things go wrong with friendships do i do this). but here goes:
my mantra….i said this to my son (who is 5), and i wasnt being mean about it, but he kept blaming us for him losing a video game. I told him if he wanted to win, then stop losing. my husband looked at me and said…good one sahn. so i turned this into something for me for my job.
“If I want better, then I need to be better and do better in all things”
my theme song…there are seriously too many for me to chose from, they rotate…sorry. Changed by Walter Hawkins, and For Every Mountain Kurt Karr and the Kurt Karr singers, Encourage Yourself, Dog Days are Over, and Dont Stop ‘Til You Get Enough.
Forgot to say that my journal is a black non-descript one. Its one I would normally use for work, but tempted to get something else for these exercises.
Reset Journal: I am using my current journal that I bought at Wal-Mart a few years ago, I believe in being practical. :~}
Mantra: I easily flow with change. My life is Divinely guided and I am ALWAYS going in the best direction
Theme song: Light as a Feather by Temika Moore
Here’s my Day 1 post. Enjoy.
http://hittheresetbutton2012.wordpress.com/
My notebook is a colorful notebook I have but had not written in yet. It has fun, bright colors and designs on the front and will be great to hold all the self discovery that I’m about to have. It’s sturdy enough that I’ll be able to keep it and reflect on it long after this 31 days is complete. My personal mantra is : Pray more. Fear less. Live better. My theme song is: The Fight by Anthony Evans.
Day 1, I chose a yellow “regular” notepad because it was sitting on my shelf and wasn’t being used, which is also cost efficient. I’ll recycle anything that deems necessary. My maNtra (this is how I wrote it down, so I kept it this way here) is LOOK TO THE SKY AND THINK UP. What this means to me is Life has endless possibilities, so everything I want to do is achievable. And last but not least, my theme song is RESTLESSNESS by Wendel Kos. It’s something I have most days and it means that since I’m living life to the fullest, I therefore lack rest. The beat is catchy (I love techno) which keeps me motivated and makes me want more from my day, thus LIFE. I hope this helps someone else out there and it finds you good fun
Go LIVE!
I decided to use a red “leather” bound notebook that I purchased for $5.00 at a dollar store. It’s small enough to fit in my purse and it looks chic. My mantra for this reset journey is “Pray more. Fear less. Live better”.
My theme songs are Beautiful Day by India Arie and The Living Proof by Mary J. Blige.
Egypt that’s my mantra too. I pretty well summed up how I want to live my life!
My mantra is. My health and happiness is my top priority. My notebook is a previously loved blue lined composition book that I have covered with a glorious magazine picture of a beautiful all orange table setting with flowers and candles and the words Inspire entertain transform my body and life forever
LOVE your mantra Luli! Sometimes it sounds/feels selfish, but putting your health & happiness first definitely makes everything around you flow better as a result. Welcome!
My Theme Song : “Be Strong” by Sizzla http://youtu.be/MlyWO1cH2Lg
My Mantra: “Surround yourself with only people who are going to lift you higher”- Oprah Winfrey
My Journal: Right now its a blue notebook but im strongly thinking about changing it.
*reposting because i don’t think the last entry went through*
reset notebook: i chose a black moleskine journal to jot down my reset thoughts and results. to make it more inviting, i adhered a vintage image of katherine dunham on the front cover so that i am reminded of the reality of accomplishment despite obstacles. on the back i placed an image of her dancing to symbolize welcoming change gracefully.
mantra: “My life is special. I live my truth. I nurture my spirit. I celebrate me.”
theme song: “Strength, Courage & Wisdom” song by INDIA.ARIE
This is my 2nd time doing the reset. It was beneficial the 1st time around, but I’m at a point where I need to do another life evaluation so here I am
I haven’t found a notebook that really speaks to me so I’ll blog my journey until I do.. feel free to read http://theteasquared.blogspot.com
My Mantra(s):
“No Pressure, No diamonds”
Hebrews 11:1
Proverbs 3:5

I am currently completing Round 2 of my #31dayreset and I’m excited about it. I am using the same purple sequined notebook that I used the last time because it is still an accurate reflection of my personality, and it still fits easily into my bag which makes it convenient on the go.
My mantra for this go round is “All things are possible for him who believes.” I know that I have to first believe that something is possible before it can actually become a true possibility in my life.
Finally my theme songs…yes songs…are as follows:
One Thing Remains–Jesus Culture
I Am-Kirk Franklin
Moving Forward–Israel Houghton
All three songs are accurate reflections of what I’m going to have to understand and/or do to be successful during this next phase in my life! I love it and I can’t wait to see what happens this time around!

My theme song is Whitney Houston I’m every woman

Hi there,
.
my native language is Spanish so I apologize in advance if you find my English weird
Choose a personal Mantra:
“The only way to do great things is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all the matters of the hearth, you’ll know when you find it” – Steve Jobs.
I really like this one because sometimes I feel like I just want to live up to expectations of others, and make them believe something I’m not. But I have forgotten what is to love and enjoy what I do…
Choose a theme song:
I had a hard time deciding which song could be fit to my situation, but at the end I chose one which inspires me to reflex.
Moonlight Sonata – Beethoven.
My Notebook is a nice little spiral red notebook i had at work. It works!
My mantra: “It’s not the load that breaks you, it’s the way you carry it” – Lena Horne
My theme song: (in no way can i ever chose 1 song…it’s just not possible for me and music) “I was Here” – Beyonce
“We Must Praise” – J. Moss

I have two mantras and two songs. The songs are, Just Fine by MJB and Smile by Kirk Franklin.

my notebook is a brand new 100 page black and white composition notebook. my mantra for the 31 day challenge is “the water will only flow if the faucet is on” and my theme song is lift off by kanye and jay-z featuring beyonce.
Love that mantra! “The water will only flow if the faucet is on.” Yes. Let us all keep our faucets on & welcome the flow of happiness into our lives.
Pingback: 2012 theme song: fly «
My notebook is a little one, 1/4th the size of a regular sheet of paper. Has flowers on the front and can fit in my purse. I was going to use it to track jobs I applied for, but I now have a job, so!
My mantra is from Susan B. Anthony, “Failure is impossible!” My song is “F*cking Perfect” by Pink.
i love that song! congratulations on starting your 31 day reset!
Mantra–”No longer living in the past and currently moving forward, I am being prepared for what God has for me. God is changing me for the better.”
Theme Song–Destiny Praise: Broken “No longer defeated I confess God has completed a change in me, the cycle has been broken”
I currently do not have a journal, but I will go purchase one that represents me and the change I am feeling today
I finished my Day 1 Post. Kinda late jumping in, but I love this. You can find my blog journal at http://yolandajustsaid.blogspot.com/.
I have my “reset” notebook; a spiral-bound, Top Flight brand that has a funky green color. My personal mantra for 2012 comes from one of my favorite movies, The Princess and the Frog. In the movie, Mama Odie (voiced by the awesome Jennifer Lewis) says, “You got to dig a little deeper. Find out who you are. You got to dig a little deeper. It really ain’t that far. When you find out who you are you’ll find out what you need. Blue skies and sunshine guaranteed.”

3. Faith by Kirk Franklin…because “I can do the impossible. I can see the invisible. Because I have Faith.”
I love the mantra and song. the song lyrics remind me of the Clark sisters singing “I’m looking for a miracle, I expect the impossible, I see the intagible, I see the invisible”

My mantra: “Every moment is a new opportunity to become who I am. I choose to live freely.” I chose this because I have embarked on a journey of self re-discovery. I am also ditching the idea of always having to be so perfect and choosing to live more freely.
My theme song: “Be Optimistic” by Sounds of Blackness. I remember hearing this song as a kid and it has always made me smile. I’ve learned to appreciate it more as I got older. It has always been one of my favorite songs.
I am using a soft fuchsia journal with large paisley print engraved into the cover. I am a notebook junkie and tend to buy interesting journals/notebooks randomly. This one, however, was already in my arsenal.
I loved that song growing up. That is a good choice, a feel good song:)
yayyyy! for your song and mantra!
“Be Optimistic” I totally forgot that one when I was thinking of one for me…great choice and great mantra. Good luck to you!
My Mantra
I will align my life with Gods plan for me. I trust that God is the source of my life and he will provide me with all my resources.
Theme Song for the Month
On the Ocean- K’ Jon
1. My Reset notebook will be my personal blog and journal.
2. Mantra: “If you stay ready, you don’t have to get ready.” I heard Will Smith say this.

My mantra is “Define your happy”. Life coach/actress AJ Johnson says you have to define what makes you happy then make the changes necessary to get you there.
My theme song is “Listen” from the Dreamgirls soundtrack. Even though I am quite outspoken in most areas of my life, I feel that people don’t “hear me”.
I am using the program Simplenote. I am a tech geek so it makes sense that I would use an app.
I love that mantra – it resonates with the tagline of the blog to design our lives! I didn’t know AJ was a life coach – very cool. Wasn’t she in House Party? One of my favorite movies.
My mantra is: I deserve everything I want because I’m worthy of it.
My theme song is: Bravo by Ledesi.
I’ve decided to go with a black and white Marilyn Monroe notebook. She was such a free spirit and that’s what I’m striving to bde.
I’m using a slightly used purple hardcover journal I purchased from the bookstore a long time ago.
My personal mantra is the Rosa Parks quote “I have learned over the years that when one’s mind is made up, this diminishes fear; knowing what must be done does away with fear.”
My theme song is “I Choose” by India Arie

My Mantra is “Press Forward”
My theme song is Well Done by Deitrick Haddon
Sorry, late….
My personal mantra is: I exude happiness. I am confident and open to change. I live in God’s plan and follow my God given dreams and visions.
My personal theme song is: “I am not My Hair” by India Arie– the song is little played but I love this song. Everytime I hear it, it gives me a little “pick me up” and a boost of confidence.
My personal reset book is an upcycled notebook that one of my friends gave me for Christmas. The cover and back are made of old newspapers and has purple binding.
Jessica i forgot about that song! I just cut all of my hair off, because i was sooo holding on to it to give me confidence, it was down my back. I have a short natural now and it feels liberating. NO MORE SLAVE TO THE PERM!! Great theme song.
My 2012 mantra is: “All things are lessons God would have me learn.”
My theme song: I’m Every Woman by Whitney Houston (but I love Chaka too)
What a great theme song. I love both versions of I’m Every Woman, but I have to say I like Whitney’s the best!

Just a day late! That’s okay though.
Journal: I love notebooks to jot down ideas and things that inspire me. For the reset, I will use a simple spiral notebook that I bought from the dollar store.
Mantra: Be confident in who God made you to be. I struggle with confidence because I care too much what people think about me. This mantra helps me see the beauty and strength that I have.
Song: Bon Jovi’s It’s My Life! Love this song. Love belting it out when it comes on in the bar. It’s about living your life right now and not waiting for some day in the future to do something.

My mantra is “My next is better than my now.”
My theme song: Good Morning by Mandisa. If you sing this song every morning you will end up with a smile on your face,
My notebook has Numbers 6:24-26 on the cover. I use this as a guide for myself and others.
My Mantra for 2012 is: “Nobody will Love me, the way I love me. So, the way I treat myself sets the standards for others.”
I find that I give and give and never think of taking care of myself which is probably why I am usually so run down. I have been looking forward to the new year and I definitely want to use the challenge to make myself more of a priority.
My Theme song: I am not my hair by India.Arie. This song really speaks to me. I look a certain way and I’m sure people make snap judgments about me because of that.
My Mantra: Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not to your own understanding

My journal is my tumblr blog! My personal mantra for 2K12 is “let no one steal your peace” by Bikram Choudhury. My theme song is “Golden” by Jill Scott! Follow my posts for this challenge on my blog: http://anorangemoon.tumblr.com/! Happy New Year Everyone!!
I chose a Spirit of Flight Journal for my Reset Journal. It has a beautiful picture on the front.
My mantra is: I am More. This means I deserve more from life. I deserve more love, more happiness, more success.
The selection of a theme song was much more difficult. So instead of picking one song I am doing a playlist. The songs I have included in the playlist include Closer by Goapele,I was Here by Beyonce,Higher Than This, Bravo, and Raise Up by Ledisi. I love all of these songs.
My notebook is a black hard covered one. A present from my daughter this christmas.
My theme song is Still Standing by Monica and the quote is: Start by Starting by Meryl streep.
My journal is a lime green notebook that was a Christmas present from my sister last year.
My theme song is: I’m Going All The Way by Sounds of Blackness.
My mantra is a quote by Wilfred Peterson:
“Walk with the dreamers, the believers, the courageous, the cheerful, the planners, the doers, the successful people with their heads in the clouds and their feet on the ground. Let their spirit ignite a fire within you to leave this world better than when you found it…”
I hope to have committed this to memory by the end of the 31 days. It encourages me to surround myself with supportive people and take the responsibility for how I interact with those around me.
Happy New You and Year Everyone!! My notebook is a large sized red moleskine. My theme song is Declaration (This Is It!) by Kirk Franklin and my mantra is “It’s time for you to move, realizing the thing you are seeking is also seeking you.” ~Iyanla Vanzant
Thanks, Rosetta, for the opportunity to join other beautiful happy black women on this 31-day journey. I’m writing on my computer because I don’t handwrite as fast as my thoughts flow. Yet, I love the personal touch and beauty of handwriting… so I also have a green hardback journal entitled, “God’s Promises for a Woman’s Heart.” This blank journal has been in my collection for months just waiting for the right words to grace its pages. Now is the time!
I’m usually very original… but I must say that I had to “bite” your inspirational song~ Closer~!!! For the last couple of years, I’ve listened to 98% gospel/worship/praise (used to be a hip-hop head and still love jazz, reggae, Latin and any other type of soulful music). Yet, when I played “Closer” and watched the beautiful video, I immediately downloaded it on my phone to listen to every morning.
My mantra… “This is my year for global expansion because, with God and my intentional actions, all things are possible.”
Might I also share that I spent 3 hours thinking about your Review/Preview. I usually create a similar exercise for women I coach so it was very refreshing to journal based on questions posed by someone else. Very powerful!!! I realized so many shifts that I will make in 2012. Thanks again for the opportunity to flow with HBW.
May each and every one of us reach our greatest level of love, peace, happiness and prosperity in 2012.

My Mantra for 2012 is two fold: I’m responsible for my own lifes happiness. And, I Deserve It.
Working on accountability and self esteem are my two greatest challenges. I feel those mantras fit my life perfectly.
My Theme song: I’m Prettier by Miss Jill Scott. This song talks about how much better we feel once we let go of things we can’t control.
My journal is actually a gift my GodMother gave me last year at the beginning of 2011. I’ve never used it, and she wrote the sweetest message to me inside the cover. It’s perfect for this motivational challenge.
