Many people complain about not having enough time to make progress on their goals or even their overall personal development. And it usually stops there – with the complaint. But today, you’re going to take action and really analyze how you’re currently spending your time. This exercise is a conscious effort to investigate whether it’s really true that you “don’t have time” to make good on the life you want for yourself.
Estimated Time to Complete: 45-60 minutes
Today’s assignment requires you to think critically about how you spend your time. In order to do this, you will conduct a 24-Hour Time Audit. Simply use the format below to account for each hour of your time on a typical 24-hour period. You may also look to how you spent your time yesterday or in a pattern over the past week.

I reeeeally procrastinated on this one. I actually did a time audit on the assigned day but it scared me so much that I decided not to post it. My schedule was jam packed. Right at that time I had accepted some part time work by contract- this actually has something to do with starting my side hustle. But that on top of my full time job and all the other responsibilities I had was making my schedule look too crazy! I am working on making a more doable schedule for myself. My side hustle is paying off- they want to use me more. This gives me the opportunity to cut on my hours at the full time job I DO NOT WANT. I will have to do it. I read my letter to self and it reminded me to go after what I want to do.
This exercise is a reality check to MAKE POSITIVE CHANGES :

Wasn’t too surprised by any of it. I didn’t really find this exercise to ring true and important like the other ones have for me.

Doing this exercise is reinforcing to me how regimented I am. I know pretty much what I will be doing for the day before it even happens. That may mean I need to re-think certain parts of my day and maybe be a little bit more flexible as well. I’d like to observe this for another day and definitely a weekend day to get some more perspective.

What I’ve found with this exercise is that I can do a pretty good job of managing my time, the hard part is making sure the energy is focused on the right activities.

I’ve realized that I have spent a lot of time sleeping and lounging around doing nothing and I will change this around.
Egads. I conducted my time audit of Sunday and it’s not pretty. I spent five hours messing around on Twitter and Tumblr (not all at once but still) vs. two hours of shooting and editing photos. I’ve been spending too much time putzing around, not enough time being a photographer.

I completed my time audit, and after work, I have 5 hours for which I can develop my side hustle. I tend to spend this time either working on my side hustle or relaxing. Breaking your day down into hourly chunks really does help you to see that you really do have more time than you think to do the things you want. Then again, I am a single woman without children, so it’s easier for me to have more time to devote to my business.
