Lately, I’ve been suffering from a major bout of procrastination. So many opportunities have come my way since I became the CEO of me, that I’m having a hard time keeping up! Right now, my files are out of order, my house is a mess, and I can’t decide whether I need to hire an assistant or hire someone to kick my ass. We all know that setting goals for yourself is a great way to make sure you stay on track with living your best life, but what happens when you don’t have anyone to hold you accountable?
Enter futureme.org, a site that allows you to write yourself a letter that’s emailed to you at some point at least 30 days into the future. You can write yourself an inspiring letter about how you want your life to be a month or a year or three years from now. You can make your letters private or public, but anonymous. It’s you holding yourself accountable, with the help of a little magic technology.
Today, I decided on five goals I wanted to achieve in the next month and wrote myself a note to be delivered on 30 days reflecting on how I want to feel when they are accomplished. It was a powerful exercise, and I challenge you to try it out for yourself and see if it helps you with procrastination or making progress on living your best life.
Here’s a great example of a public, but anonymous letter that some wrote to themselves in 2004. How do you keep track of your goals?
