Have You Started Yet?

“A year from now you will wish you had started today.” – Karen Lamb

Every success story has to begin somewhere. Whether your goal is to lose weight or start your own business or travel the world or find a new love, at some point you have to take the first step.

You have to start.

But sometimes we confuse energy with action. Just because you’ve devoted a lot of thought and conversation into starting, doesn’t mean you’ve actually started.

Starting is indicated by visible, measurable action.

Starting looks like:

Starting does not look like:

  • talking to your family and friends about starting
  • reading a million books and blogs about how to start
  • tweeting about how much you want to start
  • promising yourself (for the 11th time) that you’re going to start tomorrow

Starting is starting. And if you’re waiting until all the conditions are perfect to start, then you never will.

Have you started yet?

If not, what is the simplest single action you can take today to GET started?

  1. Yes, I actually wrote a post on getting Started as well! It’s so easy to get paralyzed by fear, when you take action, the momentum of it all carries you. Dale Carnegie said “Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit at home and think about it. Go out and get busy!” Great post and oh so so true. When my article posts I’m going to link back to your site.

  2. For me it was starting my 1st blog, at the time I had no idea what I wanted to do. I just wanted to help people. I knew that I enjoyed writing even though I don’t do well in the editing department and I had a voice, an opinion, and I knew I could start there. With time I am becoming more focused, more strategic, and still in love with why I started in the first place….to help people.

    • Yes, I think most people who start blogs want to be 100% sure about the strategy & direction, but it comes with time. The most important thing is to get started, keep going & be consistent!
