The first thing I noticed when I met the lovely Miss Tina last month at our very first HBW Happy Hour in NYC were her earrings! She had these cute sparkly dangles on her ears and shared with us that not only does she make her own earrings, but she also sells them on Etsy. Tina’s Etsy shop, Miss T Design, boasts a collection of handmade earrings that are beautifully simple yet delicately glamorous. I don’t own or buy a lot of clothing, so I often depend on jewelry to complement my outfits and enhance my minimalist fashion sense. And Tina’s earrings are just my style!

Meet Tina of Miss T Designs
Hello, I am Tina, founder of Miss T Design shop on Etsy and natural hair vlogger on YouTube. A nurse and graduate student by day, by night I throw my feet up and indulge in the creativity that is jewelry making. I seek to make pieces that compliment my personality: simple yet delicate and vibrant!
How did you start your Etsy shop?
Oddly enough, my decision to start making jewelry started with my decision to stop relaxing my hair. Weird, I know! My success at managing my natural hair awakened a certain creativity I never knew I had. I felt like I could do anything. I was looking at these cute earrings priced at $15 once and thought to myself “Really? I can make that!” And that is how the journey started.
I am completely self-taught. I would talk to boutique owners and street vendors and spend hours in the Bead district in NY inspired by everything around me. I started making my own earrings and soon requests were pouring in from friends and family to make them something.
Having shopped on Etsy for quite sometime, and with encouragement from my family, opening my Etsy shop simply seemed like a natural choice. I opened the shop July 2011.
What is your favorite piece in your Etsy shop right now?
My favorite piece is probably Twisted Two – Turquoise. It is one of those classic pieces that brightens and compliments any outfit. If you ever watch any of my youtube videos you might notice me wearing those on the regular. I also love the Tassle Me collection, especially in Fire Red.
What are your future plans for your jewelry business?
Opening Miss T Design has been very rewarding in several ways and I would love to explore the possibilities further. My hope is to take a few more jewelry-making classes and hone in my skills and continue to make even more beautiful pieces to adorn the simple, but charming fashionable woman. More designs to come soon!

I would love the Nefertiti Turquoise earrings! I’m subscribing to a new school of thought that every day is absolutely worth celebrating so I’d wear them with a pair of jeans and a cute top or sweater as if I were headed to a grand gala…even if I’m only dropping The Bear off at kindergarten and doing laundry that day.
I would wear the mess out of those Nefertiti Turquoise earrings! lol
I LOVE the Twisted Two – Turquoise, I have a bracelet that woud go perfect with those earrings. they are so beautiful. I would wear them on a date night with hubby.
My favorite pair has to be the Safety Diva Drops. And what would I wear them with? Pretty much anything! The earrings are such a fun pop of color for the dreary fall and winter days.
I would choose the Safety Bhatik Drops and would wear them everywhere! Work, shopping, dinner, etc. they are the perfect everyday pair of earrings.

It’s between the Twisted Two-Turquoise and the Tassle Me copper finish; I’d go with the former, but that was a hard decision.
I LOVE Safety Diva, Safety Bhatik and Rock Steady Red Safety.
I like that they’re the same pins I used to wear on my Pinafore to School back in the day!
I’d wear them now with my Turban or Headwrap, with a nice Dress for a Party or just around the house to make myself feel better!

I would get these for my girlfriend. They would look so good, and will match her Ghanaian wedding dress she has chosen to wear at our wedding. She will be here in june of 2013. we’re getting married in august 2013. YAY!
While I don’t have pierced ears, I really like the turquoise and the “trapeze” design with the light blue stones at the top. Tina, your hair looks great too

I would wear the Tassle Me in Copper finish on the regular.
I’m torn between choosing the “Dynasty Drops” vs the “Safety Diva Drop”… either way all of her designs are unique and a fun way to spice up any look.

I would wear the Nefertiti Turquoise on my wedding anniversary. The beads perfectly represents our mixed heritage.

Turquoise is my birthstone and one of my favorite colors so I LOVE LOVE LOVE the twisted two! I would wear them to celebrate my 25th bday in December. It’s only right!
