How to Try Online Dating for Free

L. Michelle left a great comment on my recent Project Boyfriend post, letting readers know that the Black Singles online dating site had a Labor Day Special where you can sign up for 6 months for $20! Their special may have ended, but it made me realize that one of the barriers for exploring online dating can be the cost.

So here are some free trials (and discounts) that I know of from some of the most popular online dating sites. I totally believe in try before you buy. And who knows, maybe you could embark on your own lifestyle experiment to expand your dating horizons!

Match.com

Match.com 7-day Free Trial

eHarmony

I’ve never paid full price for eHarmony because there are so many coupon codes out there on the Internetz. Just Google “eHarmony coupon codes” and keep trying the most recent codes until you find one that works. The last coupon I found allowed me to become an eHarmony member for just $15 a month instead of the regular, super-expensive price of $60 a month!

OK Cupid

OK Cupid is by far one of my favorite dating sites. And it’s totally free!

Plenty of Fish

PlentyOfFish.com is a hugely popular dating site that’s always free!

Craigslist Personals

Yes, you can find both furniture and love on Craigslist. My mom met her husband on there! It’s also totally free.

Chemistry.com

Find Chemistry, Free for 14 days!

Lavalife.com

  1. Rosetta! You rock totally!! Thanks for the shout out and thanks for the additional sites!!

So, since I’ve signed up on BlackSingles, I have started a pretty decent dialogue with a guy in San Antonio, Texas, which is a little under an hour from Austin. So we’ll see…but there are a few things that I have had trouble with:
    1. Making my profile standout (what do I say??)
    2. Initiating converstaion (what do I say??)

Somewhere, I lost my ability to network :(

    • I think networking is different when you’re trying to date LOL! Congrats on taking the plunge! I agree that the profile is the hardest part…it’s personal branding at it’s best LOL. I’ll have a post coming up about that too!

      • GOOD, can you make sure it’s done before my six months are up? LOL
I feel sooooo cheesy trying to come up with something to say.

        “Hey big boy…what’s up?” LOL
