The reason why I talk about entrepreneurship as a personal development tool here on Happy Black Woman is because starting my own business has completely changed my life. Through my education company, Thurman Consulting, I earn a full-time living as an author, speaker, trainer and coach for nonprofit leaders and passionate entrepreneurs. I operate three blog properties online that bring in business through multiple income streams. The freedom I have now is priceless. So naturally, whenever I find something that has made a difference in my life, I want to share it with everyone I know. I want to shout it from the rooftops so that all of my fellow sisters can hear: “Another life is possible!” That is, if you want it.

Many women get intimidated by the idea of starting their own businesses – like it’s this big complicated thing. It’s not. In fact, most successful entrepreneurs began their journey simply by starting a business on the side aka a “side hustle” while they were working a full-time job. This strategy reduces the risk to you and your family, plus gives you a chance to to test out your business ideas in the marketplace. If given the choice, most of you would probably choose doing what you love over the job you have now, right? Well, now just might be the perfect time to turn those dreams into reality! If not now, when?
