31 Days to reset your life

So. Here we are. It’s almost the end of the year and people are all holiday, all travel, all off work everything, which means that most of us are not taking this downtime to really invest in our own personal development. Every year, I use the month of December to reflect on the past year and prepare for the one ahead. (It’s also my birthday month, so yay! for that, too.) This year, I’m inviting YOU to join me during the entire month of December for an opportunity to “reset” your life and begin your personal transformation for 2011 before the new year sneaks up on you.

The 31 Days to Reset Your Life Challenge

Why did I call this the “reset your life” challenge? Well, back in October, I wrote a post called “Is it Time to Reset Your Life?” that resonated with a lot of readers and it stuck with me, too. Also, I was recently inspired by Celestine Chua’s 31 Days to Live a Better Life Challenge, but I wanted to do something specifically for our community here on the blog. So, during the entire month of December, I will be hosting a personal development challenge to help you brush off the dust of 2010 and become a better, happier, more successful person in 2011. Using some of the exercises I’m doing in my own personal development journey, I will post a daily “assignment” – a tip to use, a tool to implement or a technique to learn that will help you get your life back on track in ways that will benefit you in your life, love and business.

You’ll get exercises to help you:

  • Rediscover your passion and purpose in life
  • Get clear about your goals for the new year
  • Create a map for your ideal life
  • Try new things and live outside of your comfort zone

and much more…

Who should join this challenge?

Anyone who wants to manifest a change in their life or simply gain more clarity about their path to happiness and success. This challenge will especially be of benefit to you if you’ve felt stuck or in a rut during the last year.

What does the challenge involve?

Each participant who takes the Reset Your Life Challenge will commit to doing each of the daily exercises and either blogging or commenting about the results (if some of the exercises don’t really apply to you, no worries). You will need to subscribe to my blog so you can be notified of each of the daily assignments. You may also wish to join my newsletter so you can get even more encouragement throughout the month. If you’re on Twitter, follow me to get updates there, too. Note: If you decide to blog along, tag your posts with the tag “31dayreset” to make them easier to share with us.

Other Ways to Participate

If you don’t want to write about the challenge on your blog, you can still participate in a few other ways:

  • Follow along with my daily tips and let us know how you apply them in the comments of the posts here on Happy Black Woman
  • Comment on the posts written by the other challenge participants – be sure to leave your own insights, suggestions and tips on the topics covered and share with us what you’re learning
  • Post your updates and learnings on Twitter using the hashtag #31dayreset (and follow me @happyblackwoman)
  • Join the Happy Black Woman Facebook community where you can stay updated when I post each assignment and comment within the Facebook platform

Interested? Wanna join me?

Just add your name, blog link, and Twitter handle if you have one in the comments by Wednesday, December 1 and you will be added to the list of participants. I will publish a list of participating bloggers and tweeters so that we can keep tabs on each other’s progress throughout the month. On Wednesday, December 1, I will post our first “assignment” and we’ll get started!

P.S. Don’t forget to subscribe to my blog so you can be notified of each of the daily assignments. You may also wish to join my newsletter so you can get even more encouragement throughout the month! If you’re on Twitter, follow me to get updates there, too.

  29. Hey everybody. I know I haven’t been posting my assignments these last few days. Just wanted to check in and say I am still doing the challenge. I just got behind. With graduation coming up, and the holiday’s, sometimes I’m too pooped to do anything when I actually have time. But I have been doing them in my journal. And I’m just getting caught up. Once I transfer them to my blog, I’ll post them.

  42. I know this is a long post, but I LOVE this poem and have it posted up in my cube at work. Hope it is inspiring to you.

    The Victor
    ~CW Longenecker

If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don’t.
If you like to win but think you can’t,
    It’s almost a cinch you won’t.

If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost.
For out in the world we find
Success begins with a fellow’s will.
It’s all in the state of mind.

If you think you are out classed, you are.
You’ve got to think high to rise.
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win the prize.

    Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man.
But sooner or later, the man who wins
Is the man who thinks he can.

Separate note – The Little Engine Who Could : “I think I can”
