Monday Mixtape is a weekly feature that highlights some of the most inspiring goodies I come across on the Internetz every week. This week’s mixtape is brought to you by the inspired and inspiring Elisabeth Withers.
Because my body’s strong
but my mind is stressed
so I say a prayer and jump the fence
I’ve gotta find my confidence
no looking back, no regrets
See there’s a road in front of me
and what is there I can’t see
but I have no fear or second guess
I’m gonna take my chance with no regrets
Elisabeth Withers – No Regrets
The following posts are dedicated to everyone who is on a journey to live a passionate, purposeful, fulfilling life with no regrets.
Tune Out The Naysayers | Motivated Sista
Anilia confronts the reality of “haters” in our lives who don’t support our dreams and gives tips on how to tune them out.
Some people, whether consciously or subconsciously, can’t stand to see you do better than them and will try to hold you back. Then there are the people who just can’t understand why you want what you want, especially if its a different choice than they’d make themselves. In the end, the intent behind a person’s negative words doesn’t matter. The fact that they mean well doesn’t take the sting out of their deflating words. A casual remark, unsolicited advice or unexpected criticism can infiltrate your thoughts and cause you to doubt yourself and the validity of your goals.
Without Passion Man Is A Mere Latent Force And Possibility, Like The Flint Which Awaits The Shock Of The Iron Before It Can Give Forth Its Spark – Henri Frederic Amiel | Moptop Maven
Nikole begins a series of posts about passion with a beautiful invitation to think about what you really want for your life.
One day I woke up and decided I was tired of faking myself out. I had to ask myself if being a Psychiatrist [I was a psych major] was a passion of mine, or if I succumbed to my own fear that I wouldn’t amount to anything if I hadn’t figured out my life by a certain age. Who determines the age threshold for having it all figured out anyway? – That fateful day I decided I wanted to do something with my life that ignited a fire from within, versus a job that gave “great pay and good benefits“. I didn’t care if it didn’t have a fancy title, didn’t care if it didn’t pay 6 figures and most importantly, I didn’t care what others thought. It was on that day that I understood that passion is the driving force for longevity.
Running to Change the World | Zora & Alice
Ope Bukola talks about the fast pace of our day-to-day and urges us to remember the big(ger) goals we envision for our lives.
In a world unencumbered by money or expectations, I’d lock myself away and write for a few months. Or maybe pick up a camera and spend a year or two making documentaries. But alas, I live in the real world, and in this world, we aren’t simply free to be artists. We have to make good on our expensive educations and our ambitious upbringings. We work hard and hope that, someday, we too will have “a room of our own” from which to change the world.

I remember a time when I could be on top of the world or even just doing OK, and one conversation or comment could knock me down and make me question everything!!!! “Is the sky really blue?!?! Well, now I’m not so sure.” This happens easily when you don’t know yourself or trust yourself. We can’t change what people say to us but we certainly can learn to trust our instincts and only take in what rings true for us.
“Then there are the people who just can’t understand why you want what you want, especially if its a different choice than they’d make themselves.” speaks directly to me. I realize another’s “confusion” about the decisions we make has no weight unless it impacts them. Stopping those unsolicited comments before they take root is essential.
