Preview 2013: Ten Journaling Questions to Help You Envision Your Ideal Life Next Year

 

This post highlights Part II of a powerful process to help you reflect on 2012 and plan for an amazing 2013. 

Now that you’ve given yourself a chance to reflect on 2012, it’s time to look forward to what you want to see in your life next year. Consider this a preview of 2013.

What you’ll need for your Preview of 2013:

  • A notebook and a pen (or a laptop and a blank Word document, if you prefer to type)
  • A block of quiet time over the next few days

Today’s set of 10 guiding questions will help you set intentions for what you want your life to look like in 2013. Give yourself at least an hour of quiet time for this assignment. Be honest about what you want. (Of course, you are free to use your own questions to conduct your preview or simply use this list as a jumping-off point for something completely different. As an example, you can read my Review of 2011.)

What I Want to Bring Into My Life in 2013

  1. What do you deserve more of next year? What do you deserve less of next year?
  2. What personal milestone(s) do you most want to reach in your relationships, health, family, finances, education and/or lifestyle?
  3. What professional accomplishments (at work or in your business) do you want to see for yourself next year?
  4. What do you want to learn in 2013?
  5. What do you want to cross off of your bucket list in 2013?

What I Want My Life to Look Like in 2013

  1. What part of your life do you want to pay more attention to in 2013?
  2. Who do you want to spend more time with in 2013? Who do you want to spend less time with in 2013?
  3. Which activities, habits or behaviors, if any, do you want to stop doing in 2013 because they no longer serve you?
  4. Which activities do you want to start and/or continue doing in 2013?
  5. What will your ideal day look like next year?

  1. I gladly returned to this list a few days ago (at the end of January) and used them to visualize what I want THIS month to look like. So far, so good. Thx for a useful post

    • And, although it is available in pill type, it is
      generally safe to take. This is all organic and
      could assist you remain in form. This medicine is purely not recommended
      for kids and pregnant females.

    These are some insightful and thought provoking questions to address now that we are in the new year; it’s a terrific follow up to your Rev 2012 post. The premise to really pay attention to what is working for you and what you want to see more of in the New Year is vitally important in making it happen. Having specific targeted goals that are doable is essential toward making positive change that can really make a difference.

    What I Want to Bring Into My Life in 2013
    1. What do you deserve more of next year? What do you deserve less of next year?
    I deserve a healthier me this year. I deserve to look and feel my best. I also deserve the friendship and companionship of a man who understands mutual respect and care. I deserve less disrespect and disappointment from the men I choose to date.

    2. What personal milestone(s) do you most want to reach in your relationships, health, family, finances, education and/or lifestyle?
    I want to choose the right partners. People whose values and goals align with mine. Especially when it comes to dating. I want to lose 20 lbs but more importantly establish healthier living practices (eating, exercising, and sleeping). I also want to begin eliminating debt and building my credit.
    3. What professional accomplishments (at work or in your business) do you want to see for yourself next year?
    I will map out a plan for starting my business. I will do this by searching out a couple of mentors to help me get started. I will also do the necessary research to get it under way.
    I will begin my Master’s program and continue to look for work that aligns more with my long-term career goals.
    4. What do you want to learn in 2013?
    I want to learn how to be more human. I need not be so hard on myself for making mistakes. I also want to learn how to manage my finances better.
    5. What do you want to cross off of your bucket list in 2013?
    I have been wanting to visit a Buddhist temple and begin meditating.

    What I Want My Life to Look Like in 2013
    1. What part of your life do you want to pay more attention to in 2013?
    My career. I want to align myself to be able to accomplish the goals I set. I want to build my network.
    2. Who do you want to spend more time with in 2013? Who do you want to spend less time with in 2013?
    I want to spend more time with people who will help groom and guide me toward my career goals. I want to spend more time with my family even though we are spread a part. I want to spend less time with anyone who does not support my vision for my career goals.
    3. Which activities, habits or behaviors, if any, do you want to stop doing in 2013 because they no longer serve you?
    Procrastinating, Facebook, overeating, talking on the phone and chatting in idle time.
    4. Which activities do you want to start and/or continue doing in 2013?
    Reading again. Planning and carrying out my tasks. Networking. Dating.
    5. What will your ideal day look like next year?
    I will spend more time working toward my career goals (my business and courses that will help me start that business) and hopefully in the company of a man who respects and adores me as much as I will him.
