The Beauty of Becoming

Life is a journey, not a destination.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson

Somehow, it still doesn’t feel like I’m 28 years old. Five years ago, I would’ve told you I pretty much had life figured out. I knew exactly what I wanted to do in my career, I was on track with all my educational goals and I was engaged to be married. Fast forward half a decade and these days, it feels like I’m starting all over again.

It feels like I’m building a new Rosetta from scratch.

When I left my job last year, I left the doors of possibility wide open for new career opportunities to come my way, and they certainly have. At times, it can be overwhelming, but I’m excited about having so many choices of how to spend my professional time on any given day. What I’ve noticed is that sometimes it only takes one step toward a new reality to open the floodgates of self-awareness and growth. Here’s what’s been happening in my own life since I accepted the possibility that my future could be very different.

  • I’m embarking on a new career in a new industry.
  • I’m connecting with new colleagues and new friends who are on the same path as I am.
  • I’m approaching romantic relationships differently by being emotionally honest about what I need and want.
  • I’m rebuilding and renewing relationships with my family.
  • I’m beginning to prioritize forgiveness and love over holding onto painful events from the past.

What I’m most grateful for in this period of positive change in my life is that not only am I becoming a better person, but I’m also becoming more aware of who I really am as a person. So on the days when I feel confused about what to do next, or why certain people don’t understand what I’m doing with my life now, I remind myself that this is MY path and that no one can hold me back from fulfilling my true purpose unless I let them.

Wherever you are in your life journey, I hope that you, too, see the beauty of taking your life for what it is and embracing all the possibilities for personal transformation that are coming your way. There is no better place you could be than right here, right now.

Questions for Reflection:

  1. Who are you becoming?
  2. Is this the person you really want to be?

  2. This is an awaken-ness I am going through now, at 42. My life has been one filled with excitement, adventure, hurt, happiness and love, to name a few.

But I would not change anything. Because now, as my children are successfully in college and starting their own lives, I am rediscovering my own. And it feels great. Keep moving forward, and stay encouraged. You are a wonderfully inspiring young lady : )
