Back in August, I gave my business clients a challenge to livestream every day for a week in order to build their tribe and engage their audience online.
I did it along with them and enjoyed it so much that once the month of September rolled around, I challenged myself to go live DAILY until the end of 2019.
Yep – 122 consecutive days of showing up on LIVE VIDEO for my tribe!
At first, I was going live on multiple platforms during the week – one day I would go on my personal Facebook profile, one day it would be Instagram, then my Facebook group, etc.
But what I quickly realized was the platform where I had the most QUALITY engagement on my livestreams was in my private Facebook group.
(If you’re not in my Happy Black Woman Tribe Facebook Group yet, you’re missing out on so much goodness right now…join us ASAP to binge watch all the videos from the last 40 days!)
Here are a few things I’ve learned from 40 days of livestreams:
- I am thoroughly enjoying being able to connect more deeply with my tribe of amazing women. I am getting to know them more and vice versa.
- I’ve reconnected with many of my previous clients and several of them have invested to work with me again.
- And I feel more like ME in my business than I have in a long time!
With such a large audience, I used to feel like I always had to be “on” when I showed up online, but for this daily livestream challenge, I gave myself permission to just show up as I am.
I decided to press “go live” and show the REAL reality of my life, not a curated, Photoshopped version of it.
Because the truth is that I literally work from home and I’m more likely to be sitting at my desk wearing yoga pants and have my hair twisted up than to have a beat face and fancy outfit.
This gave me the freedom to be consistent with my lives on a daily basis.
I’ve been able to show up every day and simply share my truth.
Which brings me to my biggest lesson:
MY people – the women who are truly my ideal clients, my soul sisters, my tribe – want to see the real me.
They don’t want to see the “perfect” airbrushed version of me.
They just want me to show up.
And so I do.
