ABOUT HAPPY BLACK WOMAN®

Happy Black Woman® is for the woman who is ready to stop playing small, say yes to her big vision and live life on her own terms. Together, we are creating a new reality of what’s possible for Black women to be, do and have. Most importantly, we are leading by example so that we can show other women that they can do it, too!

Happy Black Woman® is a personal development company that empowers Black women to create the lives and businesses of their dreams.

In 2010, Rosetta Thurman created Happy Black Woman® as a personal blog to document her journey to transform her life and career. Along the way, she discovered other women like her who wanted to be happy, successful and free. In a few years, the blog became more than just a website. It grew into a supportive global community!

Fast forward to today and our programs have helped thousands of Black women transform their lives and businesses. Happy Black Woman® is more than a brand. It’s a movement. It’s a lifestyle. It’s a sisterhood. And yes, you can come sit with us!

HAPPY BLACK WOMAN® VIRTUAL SUMMIT

Why This Matters

Closes The Support Gap: 60% of Black women report
experiencing chronic stress or burnout at work. Yet,
culturally relevant support spaces are scarce, especially after political attacks on diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.
Addresses a Business Need: Black women are launching
businesses at the highest rate of any group in the U.S., yet
only 3% reach sustainable growth - in part due to lack of
mentorship, training, funding, and access to networks.
Promotes Inclusion: Despite the continued growth of the
online training industry, most summits overlook Black
women speakers. Moreover, most coaching and self-help
spaces do not reflect Black women’s lived experiences.
Removes Barriers to Access: Free virtual events eliminate
travel barriers and create access to training and networking for those who might otherwise be unable to attend.

Prea Epps

Founder Reframed Financial Coaching

Prea Epps is a personal finance coach whose mission is simple: to empower professional women to shift their mindset and finally get unstuck in their finances. Because I truly believe financial freedom isn't a distant dream – it's a decision you're capable of making right now.

My financial journey hit rock bottom in 2009. After a separation and divorce, the home my then-husband and I purchased in 2005, which had already stretched us thin, became a symbol of overwhelming debt. As a single mother raising three children on one income, the next few years were a terrifying whirlwind of bounced checks, accounts sent to collections, utility shut-off notices, legal judgments, and ultimately, Chapter 13 bankruptcy. It was during this incredibly challenging time that I made a fierce commitment to building better money habits. This wasn't just about survival; it was about reclaiming my power.

True transformation began when I started to view money not as a source of stress or shame, but as a powerful tool. I consciously aligned my spending with my core values, a fundamental shift that not only empowered me to buy my dream home but also allowed me to begin traveling the world and experiencing life on my terms.

Today, my coaching business has naturally evolved from these hard-won lessons and the guidance I've offered to loved ones along the way. I'm here to share the power of financial literacy and conscious money management with you, so you can achieve the freedom and security you deserve.

Joy Y. Allison

Founder, One Mustard Seed Road, LLC

Joy Allison helps professional Black women create sustainable wellness practices to overcome burnout. She is a burnout coach and the founder of One Mustard Seed Road, LLC—a bold, healing space where Black women are supported in building wellness routines that align with who they are, how they live, and where they come from.

As a burnout coach working with professional Black women, Joy brings both expertise and lived experience. She understands what it’s like to lead with excellence while feeling exhausted, overlooked, and undervalued.

Joy’s turning point came when a naturopathic doctor looked beyond her lab results and asked, “How’s the quality of your life?” What she had dismissed as stress and restlessness was actually a natural response to harmful systems—burnout. This moment sparked a conscious decision to redefine success and wellness on her own terms. She realized she could no longer sacrifice her health for her work and chose to prioritize her well-being.

Now, Joy guides professional Black women to do the same through culturally relevant self-care strategies and sustainable support that center their wholeness not just productivity. She invites clients to reclaim their well-being unapologetically and honor their value in a world that too often overlooks it.

With over 20 years of leadership in higher education, Joy blends academic insight with real-world wisdom in every space she enters. Her work goes beyond one-size-fits-all wellness recommendations; it helps Black women build lives that feel whole, aligned, and true to their values and history.

Whether coaching one-on-one or leading workshops, Joy creates down-to-earth, transformative experiences that invite honesty, healing, and growth. She partners with universities, nonprofits, corporate teams, and faith-based communities to lead meaningful conversations on wellness, racial equity, burnout, conflict resolution, and work-life integration. Joy shows up fully and invites others to do the same creating spaces where real change can take root.

Grounded, intelligent, and deeply attuned to the needs of Black women, Joy Allison is more than a coach, she is a catalyst for renewal, resilience, and lasting self-care.
