Even though I’ve been living in Hawaii, I have flown back to the mainland about once a month to either host or attend events, so I thought it would be fun to share one of my new favorite cities out west. I’ve been in California for the past 2 weeks, exploring all the different parts of this San Diego. On this trip, I’ve been in La Jolla, Mission Bay, Mission Beach, Gaslamp, Seaport District and Little Italy. I can’t believe it was my first time going to the beach in California! It’s not Hawaii, but it’s close enough :)
I had a great time hanging out at Seaport Village! It was perfect weather for walking around the harbor, listening to live music and enjoying delicious tacos and margaritas at Puesto. I learned all about the old San Diego police headquarters at their little museum here, complete with jail cells from the 40s.
It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I loved Little Italy the most! Eating pizza at Landini’s, devouring pistachio gelato at Pappalecco and watching older Italian men playing cards on the corner remind me so much of Rome. I stayed at a little boutique hotel right in the middle of this awesome neighborhood and really savored my last few days in this amazing city.
As usual, I mixed work with pleasure on this trip. I realized just how hard I grind to grow my business on a daily basis, but at the same time, my life is still set up like a vacation. For a fun challenge, I rented a bike and rode for the first time in probably 15 years! I had to take a few practice rides around the parking lot before I got the hang of it and figured out the brakes LOL. But it was totally worth it to be able to zoom around Little Italy and down to the harbor, watching the sun creep out of sight, signaling the end of a lovely trip.
