My name is Rosetta Thurman and I’m the Founder of Happy Black Woman®, a personal development company that empowers ambitious Black women to create the lives and businesses of their dreams.
As a life and business coach, I get to help women just like you achieve their big goals faster than they ever thought possible!
But this wasn’t always my reality.
Back in 2007, I was at a crossroads with my own life and career. I liked my job, but I was feeling burned out and wondering if I was living up to my full potential. I didn’t know exactly what I wanted, but I knew I wanted something different.
After months of going through what felt like an existential crisis, I decided that enough was enough!
I went on a journey of self-discovery to find my purpose, figure out what made me happy and decide what I wanted to do next.
I sat down with a marker and a stack of index cards and got brutally honest with myself about where I was in every area of my life. Then, I gave myself permission to dream about where I really wanted to be. This process opened my eyes to how unbalanced my life was.
And then, I started taking action!
I began carving out more “me” time, exploring my interests and hobbies, traveling to new places and spending more time with my family. I started to advance my career through writing, networking and speaking. I published a book. I even launched my own business, sharing my expertise and doing work that I loved!
I realized that I had discovered such a powerful process for my own personal and professional growth and I began sharing it with my family, friends, colleagues and clients.
Fast forward to today and I’ve turned the index cards into worksheets, the questions into exercises and the action steps into a system called The Happy Black Woman® Method that I’ve now taught to hundreds of Black women around the world.

MEET YOUR COACH
Rosetta Thurman created the Happy Black Woman® brand in 2010 as a blog to document her journey to transform her life.
Rosetta Thurman is the Founder of Happy Black Woman®, a personal development company that empowers ambitious Black women to create the lives and businesses of their dreams.
In 2008, she launched her first business as a consultant, speaker and coach.
It started out as a “side hustle,” but less than 2 years later, she was able to replace her income and quit her nonprofit job to work for herself full-time.
The following year, she got rid of all her stuff, ended her apartment lease and became a “digital nomad,” traveling the world with just a suitcase and a laptop, living and working from her dream destinations of Hawaii, Greece, France, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Bali, Argentina and more!
Fast forward to today and the Happy Black Woman brand has generated over $5 million in revenue through courses, digital products, events, retreats, masterminds and coaching.
Most importantly, Rosetta’s work has inspired Black women all over the world to create lives of happiness, success and freedom!
Rosetta is the author of Launch Your Business: The 5 Step Solution to Do What You Love, Quit Your Job and Have the Freedom to Travel and Live Life on Your Own Terms.
She is the host of The Happy Black Woman® Podcast with over 1 million downloads and has also been featured in numerous media outlets including Essence, Black Enterprise, SUCCESS Magazine and Entrepreneur.
She holds a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management and has also taught business and leadership courses at Trinity Washington University.
In her free time, you can find Rosetta traveling to the next place on her bucket list, in the kitchen cooking a new recipe, dancing to 80s music or reading a good book.
She lives in Alexandria, Virginia with her husband, Jacarl.
